• Increase Spontaneous Research

As a district we purchase over twenty research databases and online subscriptions to assist students in their learning process.

Currently students have minimal opportunities to use these research tools. They are only utilized when a teacher has gained access to shared computers and requires a research project.

With 1:1 computers and access, students can explore and utilize these research databases on an as needed basis.

Students can become independent learners and research topics of their own choosing. Thus they become more proficient in using research databases. Yet they are researching in a safe environment. This will also increase students’ reading of non-fiction text.

Our district has designed a K-12 research process model, TWISTER. Students increasing their experience with this model and our databases will prepare them for college and life-long learning.
